26 November 2007 Guillaume, Thank you for inviting me to be a facebook friend. I don’t really know much about facebook but from what I can gather it is evil. So I have to decline your invitation. We are friends in the real world. Why turn it into something virtual? When you were over, we discussed bow and bay windows. They are actually different things. The window in my living room is a bay window since the perimeter is polygonal. If it was a semi-circle, then the window would be called a bow-window. When I checked it out I discovered a further refinement: if the bay or bow doesn’t descend to the ground floor also, then it is called an oriel window. This is in fact what the window in my place is: it overhangs the garden. I’m incredibly busy with my teaching job. And it doesn’t leave me very satisfied. Still I go on, since, like most people, I fear poverty. I hope life is well with you and I hope that you are not offended that I am declining to be your facebook friend. It’s just that I’m not into virtual social networking as it is called. Tom
